Although, the early signing period has essentially become
the signing period, there is still work left to be done. One elite prospect from New Jersey’s 2021 class remains on the board heading into Wednesday, and in-state Rutgers is in the mix.
In fact, Tywone Malone, is the sole player Rutgers is waiting to hear from after already signing 21 high school recruits, four college transfers and a slew of walk-ons this cycle. Malone will announce his intentions on a national signing day broadcast on ESPN2 at 4 p.m., and we will have live updates from his ceremony. There are six wide receivers represented on the All-Big Ten’s three teams.
And Melton isn’t one of them.
The Big Ten announced its best offensive players Tuesday, and Melton was relegated to an honorable mention on both the coaches’ and the media teams.
Rutgers, 3-5 heading into its season finale against Nebraska this Friday (7:30 p.m., BTN), didn’t have a player on any of the All-Big Ten’s three teams by the media or the coaches. Offensive linemen Reggie Sutton (media) and Raiqwon O’Neal (coaches) drew honorable-mention accolades along with Melton.
