The diamond drills extend toward the tunnel s end, manipulated by twin booms. Once the drilling is complete, explosives finish the job and the tunnel advances at a rate of about 8 metres a day.
The drills are silent for the moment but despite the damp, the air is dusty. And the tunnel is filled with the thrum of the ventilation system and the low rumble of a huge front-end loader. Back and forth it travels between the rubble in the tunnel s depths and the surface, a length of some 300m.

The Seven Seas Food Festival will return to SeaWorld San Diego starting March 5, the park announced today. We are excited to bring back this popular fan favorite event to San Diego, complete with new menu items, live music and a safe, outdoor experience for the whole family, SeaWorld San Diego President Marilyn Hannes said. In addition to our incredible outdoor animal exhibits and presentations, the return of Seven Seas gives our guests more options to make new, lasting memories with family and friends.
The event will run every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through May 2.

The aquarium on Maalaea Bay northwest of Kihei, which attracted 442,000 visitors in 2019, closed last March 17 as the state issued stay-at-home orders and other regulations to combat the spread of coronavirus. Like most everyone, we were thinking optimistically. We thought we d be through this relatively quickly, director of marketing Toni Rojas said.
By June, management realized the pandemic was unfortunately not headed in the right direction, and a plan for a long-term closure was needed.
