Realignment bill clears House, heads to Senate for consideration

Raleigh, N.C. A bill that would give Onslow County Schools the option to change the N.C. High School Athletic Association realignment plan for the upcoming school year has cleared the North Carolina State House.
House Bill 276 passed the House by a vote of 63-48. Only one Democrat joined 62 Republicans in supporting the bill, which was sponsored by Rep. Phil Shepard (R-Onslow).
The bill now goes to the Senate, where it will have to be approved by the Committee on Rules and Operations of the Senate before it can go before the full Senate. So far, the bill has not been placed on an agenda for the committee, which is scheduled to meet next on Thursday morning.

Chapel Hill, N.C. The N.C. High School Athletic Association Board of Directors will hold its regular spring board meeting this week and there are a number of critical issues the board will have to discuss.
Meetings will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, with votes taking place on Wednesday. Typically, the NCHSAA holds a press conference following the conclusion of the board meeting. The NCHSAA will also hold its Annual Meeting for the full membership on Thursday.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 Putrajaya acted like a “big bully” in steamrolling through the latest version of the ambitious East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), Selangor executive councillor Datuk Teng Chang Khim said today.
Teng in charge of investment, trade, industries and small and medium enterprises in Malaysia’s most developed state claimed the Perikatan Nasional (PN) federal government did not engage the Selangor state government prior to changing back to an old and questionable route drawn up when the Barisan Nasional (BN) was in power.
Later this month, the N.C. High School Athletic Association Board of Directors will hold a specially called meeting to address realignment and other issues surrounding the 2021-2022 school year.
