(Omaha, NE) An inmate is back in custody after escaping from the Community Corrections Center – Omaha.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says Anthony Gonzales ran from the facility late Tuesday night, but was apprehended in Carter Lake not long after.
NDCS says just before midnight Tuesday night, Gonzales was dropped off at CCC-O by a private vehicle. Prison leaders say staff members quickly interceded when they saw Gonzales assaulting the driver. They say staffers removed Gonzales from the car and blocked his way when he tried several times to re-enter the vehicle.
Prison leaders say Gonzales then refused multiple directives to be placed in restraints, and fled the facility grounds. NDCS says a staff member administered a short burst of pepper spray from his canister to stop Gonzales, but the wind limited its effectiveness. The staff member continued to pursue Gonzales on foot, to the end of the facility’s property.

ROCKSPRINGS Meigs Local School District recently named Sarah Hawley of The Daily Sentinel to the Ohio School Boards Association 2020 Media Honor Roll.
The Media Honor Roll recognizes media representatives statewide for fair and balanced reporting of news about public schools. Media representatives from more than 100 Ohio newspapers and radio and television stations were honored by their local school districts.
Meigs Board sets organizational meeting; approves agenda items

Approved to hire Lauren Dailey as a substitute teacher for the 2020-2021 school year as approved by the Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center, pending completion of all administrative requirements.
Approved the minutes of the Nov. 24, regular meeting as submitted
Approved the financial report for the month of November 2020 as submitted.
Approved the bills (expenditures) for payment for the month of November 2020.
Approved revised permanent appropriations as presented by the Treasurer.
Adopted a resolution re-establishing the Meigs Local School District Premium Only Plan Section 125 effective January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021 as administered by American Fidelity.
