The Sandwich School Committee is inviting members of the public to take part in a remote public hearing concerning the proposed school budget for the coming year on Wednesday, February 24. Those wishing to ask questions will be able to join virtually for the annual public hearing, which will be held during the board s regular meeting Wednesday evening. Former Blue Ridge Tech Coordinator Accused of Wire Fraud | News News Highlights: Former Blue Ridge Tech Coordinator Accused of Wire Fraud | News A former technology coordinator for the Blue Ridge School District is accused of ordering more than $ 400,000 worth of unnecessary computer switches, then selling them as his own and putting the money in the pocket. Joshua O. Raymer, 45, of Clinton, was charged with a federal count of postal fraud in the US District Court, Springfield’s Central District on Tuesday. Federal officials believe that Mr. Raymer, who worked for the Farmer City-based school district between July 2015 and December 2018, dealt directly with two companies to order more than 100 computer switches, which were billed to the school district. ....
A total of 142 COVID-19 positive cases have been recorded in some junior and senior high schools in four regions. Fifty-six (56) positive cases were confirmed in 23 schools in the Greater Accra Region. Eighty-two (82) positive cases, comprising 73 students and nine staff were recorded in the Eastern Region, three cases in the Upper West Region and a single case in a school in the Western Region. They have been isolated and receiving treatment at the various treatment centres. No death has, so far, been recorded from the school infections. Engineer recognized for STEM assistance Ada Harris School in the Cardiff School District is recognizing the contributions of Michael Deshler, a senior engineer in cybersystems at General Atomics Aeronautical Inc., for his longtime support of the school’s STEM program. He and other engineers recently donated $1,800 for 14 Tello programmable quadcopter drones with extra batteries, chargers and propellers. The drones are providing the students with a fun way to learn about physics, engineering and computer programming. Over the past five years, Deshler has applied for and received grants nearing $6,000 for Ada Harris School from the General Atomics Sciences Education Foundation. With those funds, he helped teachers buy STEM learning equipment. General Atomics has also arranged for engineers, including Deshler, to speak at the school about careers in engineering and cybersecurity. ....
