CDC relaxes mask recommendations for those fully vaccinated

CDC relaxes mask recommendations, but some Virginians say they ll remain vigilant and last updated 2021-03-09 08:21:52-05 RICHMOND, Va. On Monday, the CDC issued new guidance for fully-vaccinated people, loosening some of the mask recommendations. The CDC said fully-vaccinated people are also no longer required to get tested or quarantine after potential exposure to the virus, unless they are exhibiting symptoms. However, the CDC is still recommending that vaccinated individuals wear a mask in public or crowded spaces and to refrain from unnecessary travel. Governor Ralph Northam echoed the CDC’s recommendations for remaining vigilant in public spaces. “Our cases are going down and vaccinations are going up,” Northam said. “Until we can get all Virginians vaccinated we need to continue to follow the guidelines of wearing a mask, social distancing and keeping our hands washed.”

Thousands receive COVID-19 vaccine at the Richmond Raceway

The vaccines need to be reconstituted and made up, said Westwood Pharmacy owner and pharmacist Oley.  We re reconstituting the Pfizer vaccines with Sodium Chloride, said Pharmacy Coordinator Dr. Shubhro Pal. Saline is put into the vaccine to mix it up, and once it is mixed up, the vials go over to the drawing tables where they pull up 0.3 ml for each dose. According to Pal, each vial contains about six doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and expires after six hours. At the drawing tables, volunteers draw the vaccine up into the syringes for the dosage from the vials that were labeled with the time they were reconstituted, explained the drawing table coordinator. After they label them with the time they need to be used by, they re ready to go.
