SKIPTON Auction Mart added an extra fixture to its already busy Spring dairy calendar with a special draft sale from Keith Downs, who farms with his wife Pam and son, David, at Milnerfields Farm, Bingley. (May 3) With Keith a well-respected local farmer and long-standing director of the mart it was no surprise that a good number of buyers and potential purchasers were ringside, as Downs cattle have done well previously for buyers, with quite a few commending their durability and staying power. Last summer, national papers were covered with images of overcrowded beaches. At some places, police were forced to step in and ask people to stay away from the most overpopulated beaches on British shores. While most beaches didn’t actually close, visiting them was warned against and it was hard to relax with social distancing rules in place. After the pandemic, none of us will take a relaxing trip to the beach for granted again. If you haven’t already been to Silloth beach, you should make sure to after the pandemic has passed. The underrated beach is home to plenty of wildlife and migrant birds visit the nearby salt marshes in winter.
