Cuando amanezca en Tokio, el triatlón olímpico (en España, domingo, 23.50 horas, Teledeporte) se resumirá en dos estrategias entre los favoritos: quienes mejor completen los 1.500 metros a nado tratarán de unirse en bici para descartar a los que hayan perdido tiempo en el agua; mientras que aquellos que salgan rezagados de la bahía tratarán de organizarse para dar caza al grupo delantero al inicio de los 40 kilómetros en bici y que todo se reduzca a ver quién es más rápido en el 10.000 final de carrera a pie. Bad luck on the bike in Lisbon ended his challenge after a good swim three weeks ago, and the hot temperatures expected in Mexico are likely to suit the slight Canadian once more as he builds towards Tokyo.

Britain s Alistair Brownlee’s hopes of defending his Olympic triathlon title for a second time at Tokyo 2020o look slim after he was disqualified from the World Triathlon Championship Series leg on his home city of Leeds today.
The 33-year-old London 2012 and Rio 2016 champion, needing a good performance to influence the selectors after struggling with an ankle injury, was first out of the second transition, but although he completed the run he was disqualified “due to unsportsmanlike behaviour during the swim segment.”
He was reported to have dunked United Sates opponent Chase McQueen during the opening leg of the competition.
