Soon after the Midnapore incident, Union minister Muraleedharan sent out three Twitter posts, one with a 58-second video on the attack on his vehicle. “TMC goons attacked my convoy in West Midnapore, broken windows, attacked personal staff. Cutting short my trip,” he wrote. “We could not visit the house of Bengal BJP karyakarta Biswajit Mahesh, who was killed in the post-poll violence at his village Markundachak. Police advised us not to go after the attack on my convoy at Paanchkuri,” another post said. Mahesh was found murdered in Sabang (West Midnapore) on Tuesday night. In Phase-IV, 44 constituencies from the districts of Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Howrah, Hooghly and South 24 Parganas are going to polls. A total of 1,15,81,022 electorates will decide the fate of 373 candidates in this phase.
