Library announces live musical performance by Chilean singer, songwriter and guitarist

The Little Falls Public Library is pleased to announce a live musical performance by the Chilean singer, songwriter, and guitarist Ricardo Parra, presented online via the Zoom teleconferencing application, Thursday, April 22nd from 7 PM to 8 PM. Mr. Parra is preparing a wide range of songs and styles for the virtual concert, from his own original works to the American standards, South American and English traditional, across such genres as folk, blues, classical, and bossa nova.
Mr. Parra’s passion for music started with his mother, herself a singer and guitarist, instilling in him a great love for that artistic form. As time grew, he learned how to express himself through melody and harmony until he eventually realized that his life work was to be interpreting the music of others and composing his own as well. On Jan. 7-8, 2021, the Long Beach Police Department arrested 4 suspects in connection with the Dec. 16, 2020 shooting death of 14-year-old Long Beach resident Arthur Touch.
Through their investigation, detectives uncovered evidence indicating that a dispute took place between the victim and the four suspects. The dispute escalated to a physical assault which led to the victim being shot prior to the suspects fleeing the scene.
“Any loss of life due to violence is unacceptable, but the murder of a 14-year-old should be an outrage to our entire community,” stated Chief of Police Robert G. Luna. “I want to thank our Special Investigations Division detectives for their relentless efforts to identify and arrest the suspects responsible for this senseless crime.”

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two homicide suspects from Long Beach were arrested at the U.S.-Mexico border line on Friday after leading the California Highway Patrol on a pursuit from Mission Valley to San Ysidro.
A CHP officer spotted a blue Acura Integra that was the subject of a be-on-the-lookout alert while heading south on Interstate 805 over Interstate 8, according to the state law enforcement agency.
The driver refused to yield and fled through southern San Diego, National City and Chula Vista before pulling over on Camino De La Plaza at Interstate 5, just north of the international line, CHP public-affairs Officer Salvador Castro said.
It was not immediately clear whether any of the individuals have attorneys.

The brothers then jumped out of the vehicle and ran off. Personnel with the CHP and U.S. Customs and Border Protection chased after them, and took them into custody a short distance away, Castro said.
