The Wartburg College community is in mourning this week.
On Sunday former tennis coach, and brother of athletic director and football coach Rick Willis, Jim Willis died after a battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. Jim was only 49. Willis was the men’s and women’s tennis coach from 2002-2007. He was also extremely active in the Waverly community. Jim leaves behind his wife Nicole and three children: Luke, Brooke and Brady.
Monday legendary Wartburg basketball coach Lewis “Buzz” Levick died at the age of 94. Levick was the basketball coach from 1965 to 1993 and amassed 510 wins and 14 conference titles. The Wartburg arena is named Buzz Levick Arena in his honor. He leaves behind his wife of 74 years Miriam.
