“Who decides what a neighborhood needs?” The Advocate’s article (Sunday, May 2) touches an underlying question. Does where you live in Stamford determine how effective your voice is? As a long-time Stamford resident, I care!
Do you live in an area where your modest house’s value has rocketed during the current boom? Or an area like the West Side which the city has allowed to erode and become a primarily rental area with dwindling home-ownership. Unlike more affluent parts of the city, the West Side attracts developers more concerned with making money than with building sustainable, healthy, thriving communities.
Developers say it s perfect spot for affordable housing. Neighbors say build your units elsewhere.
