ROCKFORD Nationally, Girl Scouts cookie sales are down due to the pandemic. However, one local troop has found a way to still meet their goals.
Although last year they had to cut sales short because of COVID-19, this year things look more promising, said Holly Bartelt, chief revenue and brand officer at Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois. There has been a bigger push with online sales compared to the traditional door-to-door, and last Friday the organization kicked off a partnership with the food delivery service Grubhub.
Girl Scouts USA has partnered with the company. In Rockford, Grubhub will accept weekend orders through March 21. The organization also is working with troops in Oswego, Lake Zurich and South Elgin.
