A Russell man who was allegedly fleeing from law enforcement in a stolen pickup at a high rate of speed Thursday night was injured when the pickup went off a Russell County road and crashed. Kansas Highway Patrol reports Daniel W. Adams, 47, was taken to Russell Regional Hospital with what was believed to be minor injuries.
GREAT BEND TRIBUNE Oklahoma woman dies in Russell County crash Wednesday
An Oklahoma woman died and another woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash five miles west of Russell Wednesday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Miyotzi A. Jemenez of Sperry, Okla., was traveling westbound on I-70 around mile marker 188.9, driving a Jeep sport utility vehicle. At around 11:10 a.m., Jemenez lost control on a wet, slushy roadway. The vehicle entered the median and rolled two complete times before coming to rest on its wheels in the eastbound lanes of I-70.
Jemenez suffered fatal injuries, and her passenger, 24-year-old Rosa Stacy Bernal of Haskell, Okla., was transported to Russell Regional Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

TourHealth COVID-19 Testing
Digital government solutions firm NIC Inc. and the State of Kansas are expanding TourHealth COVID-19 testing in northwest Kansas to include Russell.
TourHealth testing in northwest Kansas is also offered in Great Bend, Hays, Goodland and Colby.
The testing site in Russell opens Monday, December 14 and is open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Russell Regional Hospital Specialty Clinic at 222 South Kansas Street in Russell.
Appointments are not required but can be made online for streamlined communications and results delivery. To register online, go to www.web.getgov2go.com, register and then sign up for the date and location you would like to take the test.
