Hill Country braces for more severe weather as storms move through Texas Much of the severe weather in Central Texas has been in the Hill Country. SAN MARCOS, Texas - The line of thunderstorms that moved through the Hill Country caused some isolated flooding. But mainly the high water covered low-lying areas like the roadways in Boerne.   There was also intense lightning, that came with the storms, which posed the greatest threat. It all started Monday; that’s when a storm cell hit the home of Cheri Mayfield near Blanco. So far dodged a bullet, not too bad right now, it was a little scary, I got here to work around 3 o’clock and there was lots of thunder and lightning and I got, from my FOX 7 WAPP, I got an alert that said Blanco under a tornado watch so I was a little nervous, said Mayfield.

Courtesy photo Highland Lakes residents and restaurants donated meals to area first responders so they could focus on the countless calls during the storm.  “Having those meals was a huge benefit,” said Marble Falls Fire Chief and Emergency Management Coordinator Russell Sander. “With (area grocery stores) and many restaurants closed, we had no way to get food. It kept us fed to provide services to our citizens.”

Testing will be 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through March 11 at the pavilion, 307 Buena Vista Drive. It is a walk-up site; no appointment, symptoms, or a physician’s order are necessary. Results for the curative, or cheek swab, test usually come back in 24-48 hours.

New full-time Marble Falls firefighter got the spark at summer camp After a stint on the part-time roster, Bailee Jordan joined Marble Falls Fire Rescue in November as a full-time firefighter. Staff photo by Daniel Clifton Homegrown firefighter Bailee Jordan recently became a full-time member of Marble Falls Fire Rescue. “It was amazing,” said Jordan, referring to her first shift, Nov. 17-18, as a full-time member of the unit. Until then, she had been a part-time member.  Jordan’s firefighting journey began in 2013. She was in one of the first groups of Marble Falls Middle School students to attend a weeklong firefighting summer camp.
