Rubber Duck Race at the Mississippi Aquarium

WXXV News 25 August 2, 2021 It was aqualympic time at the Mississippi Aquarium over the weekend where the inaugural Rubber Duck Race was held. In the front fountain at 1 p.m., Saturday a variety of rubber ducks were dumped into the water to see which one swam to the other side the fastest. The event cost $5 per duck to enter and hosts about 60 contestants. The duck race was a fundraiser for the aquarium. All money contributed to help treat aquarium animals. Aquarium Vice President of Sales and Marketing Kendra Simpson believes the event could not have gone any better for its first time. “I think this was so much fun. We did some cafe specials. So, we have onion rings and gold medal burgers this week in honor of the Olympics. So, I think this is a tradition that will continue here and we had a really good turn out for the race and we wish to do it again next year.”
