On 10 February 2021 the Portuguese Equestrian Federation (FEP) presented its new competitive programme and directives for Dressage, announcing the appointment of three new team trainers.
At the 2019 European Dressage Championships in Rotterdam, Portugal achieved the historic feat of having qualified a team for the 2021 Olympic Games. This unprecedented accomplished prompted the need for more professionalisation and structure for the discipline of dressage in the future.
Technical Staff
A solid structure has been created with a proper technical staff that will lead Portuguese Dressage into the new decade.
The national team selector across the levels will be Luis Faisca.

2021 CDI-W Salzburg
Isabell Werth and Weihegold waltzed to a Grand Prix victory at the 2021 CDI-W Salzburg in Austria on 23 January 2021.
Dressage enthusiasts had to get up with the cock-a-doodle-doo of the rooster on Saturday morning, if they wanted to watch the full Grand Prix test, a warm-up class for the World Cup qualifier, only the second of the 2020-2021 indoor show season due corona. All seven (out of 10) others have been cancelled.
The CDI-W Salzburg was also the first European international where are all dressage riders had to wear helmets according to the new FEI rule requiring mandatory protective headgear.

2021 CDI-W Salburg
World number one dressage rider Isabell Werth won the first class of the first CDI in Europe of 2021. Aboard Sissy Max-Theurer s Quantaz she won the Grand Prix for Special at the 2021 CDI-W Salzburg in Austria.
Corona Postponement
The 2021 CDI-W Salzburg kicked off the competition calendar year after corona turned 2020 upside down. Salzburg takes place on 21 - 24 January and is a postponement of its original December date. Despite empty seats for a corona proof environment riders are thrilled to get back to action.
The opening dressage class was the Grand Prix for Special, judged by Salzgburg return judges Raphael Saleh, Thomas Lang, and Katrina Wust, and assisted by Claudia Thaler and Gabriela Valerianova.
