KUALA LUMPUR (April 6): Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) fell as much as 4.5 sen or 10.23% to 39.5 sen today after Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun was redesignated as its non-executive chairman yesterday.
At 10.46am today, the counter had pared some losses at 41.5 sen, still down by 2.5 sen or 5.68%. BCorp, the second-most actively traded counter this morning, saw 113.92 million shares change hands.
Its share price had been rising since March 16 after it appointed Abdul Jalil Abdul Rasheed as its group chief executive officer (CEO).
Despite the drop this morning, the counter was still up by 130.56% from 18 sen on March 16.
The group announced yesterday that Tan will be resigning as the executive chairman but remain on the board of directors as the non-executive chairman.
KUALA LUMPUR (April 5): Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun and his son Datuk Sri Robin Tan Yeong Ching will step down from their executive roles at Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp), according to sources. At present, Tan is the executive chairman and Robin is executive deputy chairman.
An announcement is expected to be made today, sources told theedgemarkets.com, although it remains unclear when these changes will take effect.
The latest changes in leadership come after the appointment of former Permodalan Nasional Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Jalil Rasheed as the group CEO of BCorp last month.

KUALA LUMPUR (March 17): Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) attracted strong buying interest today following the appointment of former Permodalan Nasional Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Abdul Jalil Abdul Rasheed as the diversified conglomerate’s new CEO.
BCorp was the day’s 10th most actively traded counter on the local bourse, with a trading volume of 186.4 million shares, far exceeding its 200-day average trading volume of 9.83 million shares.
In terms of share price performance, BCorp rose as much as five sen or 27.78% before giving up some of the gains to finish three sen or 16.67% higher at 21 sen, valuing the group at RM1.1 billion.

Jalil was formerly the president & group CEO of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), Malaysia’s national unit trust manager, and brings with him 18 years of investment and business leadership experience, having worked in the UK, the US, Malaysia and Singapore with global investment firms.
