Sacramento Democratic Headquarter Plot Reveals Ongoing Impact of Anti-Government Ideology

July 16, 2021 On July 15, 2021, the U.S. Department of Justice revealed that it had indicted two California men, Ian Benjamin Rogers and Jarrod Copeland, on charges related to an alleged plot to destroy the Democratic party headquarters in Sacramento with incendiary devices. According to communications between the two men, they were animated by grievance over Donald Trump’s loss of the 2020 election, and planned to conduct their attack after President Biden’s inauguration on January 20, 2021. The announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice claims that the men hoped that the attack “might start a movement to overthrow the government.” Copeland was allegedly affiliated with the Three Percenters. Although Rogers has not been identified as a member of a militia group, he had a three percenters bumper sticker on his vehicle and had once attended a barbecue hosted by the Three Percenters. FBI Reclassifies 2017 Shooting on GOP Congressional Baseball Team as Domestic Terrorism

FBI Reclassifies 2017 Shooting on GOP Congressional Baseball Team as Domestic Terrorism The FBI on Friday reclassified the 2017 shooting that almost killed Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) as domestic terrorism, backtracking on an earlier designation of the attack as “suicide by cop.” Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), who was practicing baseball with Scalise and a Republican Congressional Team at the time, said that the gunman, James Hodgkinson, fired around 100 shots at the team. Hodgkinson, who was armed with a rifle, had a history of posting angry messages against then-Republican President Donald Trump. James Hodgkinson was the suspect. He was killed after being shot by Capitol Police who were protecting Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), who was the House Majority Whip at the time. Officers David Bailey and Crystal Griner were injured in the assault, along with four others. Scalise was shot in the attack, which almost cost him his life. Hodgkinson was a die-hard Bernie Sanders supporter and devoted leftist who made his hatred for Republicans known. In the aftermath, the FBI downplayed the political motivations of Hodgkinson, saying it was a suicide by cop incident. Katie wrote about it this baffling conclusion. We all know it was an attempt at mass political assassination. It might have succeeded if it weren’t for Scalise’s protective detail. The man had a list, and we’re led to believe

Blind spot: Rep Scalise asks FBI to review findings of 2017 attack on Republicans

Steve Scalise shooting damages Republicans trust in FBI

The bottom line stunned the Hodgkinson-targeted lawmakers assembled in the U.S. Capitol visitors center.  Mr. Hodgkinson was committing “suicide by cop,” the FBI briefer said. In essence, the bureau had relegated the near-mass killings aimed at Washington’s legislative branch to a self-centered personal decision by a leftist activist from Illinois. “What are you talking about?” Rep. Brad Wenstrup, Ohio Republican, recalls asking the briefer. “I said ‘if you want to do suicide-by-cop, just pull a gun on the cop,’” he told The Washington Times in an interview. “‘Where are you getting this?’ They just kind of stood by it. We were pretty dismayed.”
