Rainbow Sandals gives boost to local charities, education groups in need [The Orange County Register] Dec. 31 Rainbow Sandals’ founder isn’t exactly giving away gold treasure, but there are some sizable checks being handed out locally courtesy of the San Clemente-based footwear brand. This year has been especially tough for nonprofits and other small organizations, and that’s the reason why founder Jay “Sparky” Longley decided to give out more than $250,000 the past few months, in the form of mostly $10,000 and $5,000 checks, as well as food and recycled sandal donations nearly every day since early October. “I try to help, everybody needs the help,” he said. “We were lucky, we were still able to sell Rainbow Sandals. We were able to ship, even in the summer, through our retail site. We had money to spend and there were a lot of people who couldn’t open.”

Bill Gross Announces Covid Relief Donations Totaling $500,000

Bill Gross Announces Covid Relief Donations Totaling $500,000 News provided by Share this article Share this article LAGUNA BEACH, Calif., Dec. 10, 2020 /PRNewswire/ Bill Gross announced today that he was donating up to $500,000 to Orange County foodbanks and other charities providing critical assistance in this time of need, despite his neighbor Mark Towfiq s rebuffing his proposal that they settle the lawsuit between them and donate the legal fees to charities. Mr. Gross called on Mr. Towfiq to do the same. Regardless of whether Mr. Towfiq is interested in resolving this lawsuit, I am renewing my offer to him to join me in my donations to Covid relief causes, Mr. Gross said. If he has enough money to spend on multiple legal actions, he can certainly afford to help those in such desperate need. I have always believed that those who can help others less fortunate than themselves should do so.
