Valley public housing shares in HUD s Ohio allocation | News, Sports, Jobs

Feb 25, 2021 The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded nearly $7 million total to housing authorities in Trumbull and Mahoning counties. It’s part of the more than $2.7 billion in funding to nearly 2,900 public housing authorities in all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The money will be used to make capital investments in public housing units. This includes $104 million to 49 public housing authorities throughout Ohio. Trumbull Metropolitan Housing Authority was provided $ 3,580,093; Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority got $3,182,792. The housing authorities can use the funding to complete large-scale improvements such as replacing roofs or making energy-efficient upgrades to heating system and installing water conservation measures.

Feb 20, 2021 YOUNGSTOWN Lucy Mae Connor, 79, a mother, grandmother, sister and friend, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021, and is now home with her Heavenly Father. Lucy Mae Connor, affectionately known as “Cookie,” was born Dec. 5, 1941, in Youngstown, the daughter of John Clark and Thelma Fitzgerald. She attended East High School, and after high school, was employed at Southside Hospital for 13 years. She was also employed at The Hagstrom House and the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority. Her love for people led her to become a foster mom, also. One of her greatest gifts was her passionate concern for others. Lucy had a love for crocheting blankets, crossword puzzles and caring for the sick and less fortunate. She spent most of her available time doing such.
