Sophie Doyle Guides Naval Laughter To Win In Modesty At Arlington Sponsored by:
Naval Laughter with Sophie Doyle wins the Grade 3 Modesty Stakes at Arlington Park.
The Grade 3 Modesty Stakes at Arlington Park in Arlington Heights, Ill., drew a field of 11 that was light in stakes experience and eager to pick up a black-type victory. In the end, Naval Laughter, a lightly raced daughter of Midshipman, came away with the win, her second in four lifetime starts.
At the break, Two Sixtyone was the fastest, with Family Way right on her heels, followed by Naval Laughter and Breeze Rider. After the first quarter, Sophie Doyle on Naval Laughter was content to sit fourth behind Two Sixtyone, Breeze Rider, and Family Way, who were tightly bunched at the front. Those three stayed together for the first six furlongs of the 1 1/16-mile stakes, but, as the field entered the stretch, Doyle gave Naval Laughter the cue to make her move.
