Diving Points & Relays Propel Buckeyes into Day 1 Lead

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – A foundation of 321 team points by the Ohio State men’s divers last week, coupled with two fine efforts from the men’s 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay teams Tuesday evening, has the Buckeyes in first place after Day 1 of the 2021 Big Ten Conference swimming championships being held at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Ohio State has 433 points with Indiana second (319) and Purdue third (258). Michigan and Northwestern (187) round out the Tuesday Top 5 with 223 and 187 points, respectively. Ohio State’s 200 medley relay team opened the meet with a school record time of 1:23.27 and finished second. The relay featured senior Colin McDermott, junior Hudson McDaniel, freshman Justin Fleagle and junior Sem Andreis. Michigan won the race with a championship meet record of 1:22.35. Both teams’ times were under the NCAA A qualifying standard.
