DIBRUGARH: Tinsukia police have detained 12 persons in connection with the lynching of a 34-year-old man in Korjonga village in Doomdooma on Saturday morning. The deceased, identified as Sarat Moran, was lynched by a mob after he and another person was found moving in a suspicious manner in the village at around 4.15am.
According to police, there had been a few instances of animal theft in the area in the past one week and upon discovering the two unknown persons moving suspiciously, the villagers raised an alarm and chased them. While one of them managed to flee, the locals caught hold of the other and assaulted him. Cops from the Baghjan police station later shifted him to the FRU hospital in Doomdooma where he succumbed to his injuries.

Guwahati: State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass requested MLAs from other parties not to make a beeline for the ruling party ahead of the Assam assembly election, even as he welcomed workers of rival parties.

GUWAHATI: Former All Moran Students Union (AMSU) president Arunjyoti Moran joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on January 7.
It is to be mentioned that the firebrand leader participated in the anti-CAA movement against the BJP government.
Reportedly, Moran is likely to contest from Digboi.
Along with Moran General Secretary of Youth Congress Suresh Hazarika also joined BJP.
Assam BJP President Ranjit Dass welcoming the members stated that several Congress leaders are wanting to join the brand BJP, however, the party president asked the leaders not to join BJP but is willing to welcome its members to the national party.
