Nor’wester: 4 crushed by falling trees in Gaibandha Star Report Star Report
At least four people were killed when trees crushed them during a nor wester in Gaibandha yesterday afternoon.
Hundreds of houses, trees and crops were damaged in Rajshahi. At least 30 poles of streetlights were uprooted in Rajshahi city.
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) suspended the operations of all ferry services in the evening due to storms.
Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner Abdul Matin told The Daily Star that the storm started around 3:30pm. The four were killed in three upazilas of the district. We have given Tk 10,000 to each of the deceased s family.

The storm blew the clouds away without any downpour while four residents of Gaibandha Sadar Upazila, three from Palashbari, two from Fulchhari and one other from Sundarganh were reported dead in the storm on Sunday afternoon.
Gaibandha Deputy Commissioner Abdul Matin confirmed the fatalities.
The victims identified earlier were Jahanara Begum, 50, wife of Yunus Ali from Bakerpara village, Abdul Gaffar, 42, from Mostafapur village, Sahara Begum, 41, wife of Mithu Mia from Dhandhanipara village, Moyna Begum, 47, wife of Solaiman Ali from Kishamat Haladia village and Shimuli Begum, 26, wife of Bishu Mia from Katlamari village.
College student killed by neighbour in Panchagarh Star Online Report Star Online Report
Members of Rapid Action Battalion today recovered a body of a college student, buried at a cropland at Chotodap village in Atwary upazila of Panchagarh.
The victim was identified as Fahid Hasan Sifat (18), son of Safiqul Islam of Chotodap village of the upazila and also a second year student of Dinajpur Adarsha College, reports our local correspondent quoting Reza Ahmed Ferdous, commanding officer of Rangpur Rab-13.
Reza said Fahid s neighbour Motiur Rahman (19), a first year student of Panchagarh Makbular Rahman Government College, called Fahid from his house at 8:00pm on Monday and took him to the cropland.
