Emergency services rescue man from disused quarry

Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue were called to reports of a man who had fallen from a significant height in a disused quarry in Forge Valley last night (Wednesday). A spokesperson said: Two ambulance crews were on site treating the gentleman when we arrived and requested our assistance to clear vegetation from the scene, transfer the gentleman to one of our vacuum mattresses, casualty bag and bell stretcher and then carry him to the waiting ambulance. At the same time one of our vehicles met the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in East Ayton and drove their medical staff to the scene. After treatment in the ambulance he was transferred by road to the air ambulance and flown to definitive medical care. In clearing the scene we discovered that his phone had been dropped on the sleep ground at the top of the vertical edge of the quarry so we deployed a rope team to recover the device and return it to his family. We were deployed for around two and a quarter hours.

Former Sheffield teacher launches mail order brownie business - and Sheffield people can't get enough of them!

Submitting. Lucy Foley is a Sheffield baker who gave up her job as a maths teacher to focus on her business. Picture by Victoria Greensmith Photography and for more information please visit: https://www.victoriagreensmithphotography.com It was the only option to be able to continue. I thought: ‘why not give it a go’ and it’s been crazy busy ever since. I’m very lucky, I’ve got a very supportive husband and father-in-law, who also created my website,” said Lucy. Lucy and her husband Tom have two young children, two-year-old Harry and George, 4. The online success of Scumptious by Lucy meant it became progressively more difficult to juggle being a mum with baking and working as a maths teacher at Forge Valley School.
