Unnecessary to set age limit for elected leaders, says Tajuddin

IPOH: Setting an age limit for elected leaders is unnecessary, says Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman. The Umno supreme council member said it was more important on what the leaders can contribute to the country. He said having young leaders who are capable physically and mentally are good, but they lack experience. “There is more than meets the eye when it comes to the responsibility of elected leaders. “There are young and senior politicians who don’t perform, ” he told a press conference after attending an event at a college here on Wednesday (April 14). “On a personal note, it is a good idea (to have young politicians), so that seniors like me can get some rest, ” the Pasir Salak MP added.

Published on: Thursday, February 04, 2021 By: Bernama Text Size: Kuala Lumpur: The High Court here today sentenced former Felda Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad (pic) to a total of 54 years in prison and a fine of RM15.45 million, in default 18 years’ jail,  after finding him guilty of  nine counts of corruption involving RM3 million over the agency’s purchase of Merdeka Palace Hotel & Suites (MPHS) in Kuching, Sarawak. The former Negeri Sembilan menteri besar was sentenced to six years’ jail on each count of the charges. However, Mohd Isa, 71, only has to serve six years in prison after Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali ordered the prison sentences to be served concurrently.

With no settlement yet, PetroSaudi International US$340m forfeiture scheduled for further case management on April 2

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 4): The forfeiture action by the prosecution against Saudi national Tarek Obaid, PetroSaudi International Ltd (PSI), PetroSaudi Oil Services (Venezuela) Ltd (PSOSL), and two others over US$340 million in 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds is not settled yet, as parties will go for further case management. This was decided by High Court Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali when the case was called before him today via an online video application between parties. Following that, another case management date has been fixed for April 2 on the matter. Sources familiar with the matter confirmed that no settlement has been reached yet, and also the new case management date.
