Southwestern Public Health reported 21 new COVID-19 cases in the Oxford-Elgin region today, but the overall number of active cases is down 51 from yesterday.
Sixteen cases are currently hospitalized, three in ICU.

Three more COVID-19 deaths have been reported at Maple Manor in Tillsonburg, which now has seven deaths at the long term care facility. Maple Manor currently has 57 resident cases and 41 staff cases.
PeopleCare in Tavistock also reported one death this morning, and has 63 active COVID-19 cases.

Ontario reported 3,363 new COVID-19 cases this morning along with 2,476 on Friday. Southwestern Public Health, meantime, is reporting 18 new cases yesterday and 75 this morning – another single-day record – with 40 cases resolved over the two days. Since Thursday, there have been 14 new cases in St. Thomas, 8 in Aylmer, four in Bayham, three in Malahide and one in Central Elgin. One death was reported and there now have been 14 COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began.
There are 345 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 89 in Tillsonburg, 66 in St. Thomas, 49 in Aylmer, 40 in Woodstock, 34 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 16 in Norwich, 12 in Bayham, eight in Zorra, six in Ingersoll, five in Central Elgin, Southwold and Blandford-Blenheim, four in SW Oxford and three each in Malahide and West Elgin.

The Elgin Federation of Agriculture is turning to technology, not to increase crop yields in this case, but to allow residents of Elgin county long-term care homes keep in touch with family during the pandemic. Tanya Noble, manager of therapy and programs with the County of Elgin says the six iPads will be put to good use at the three county facilities.

Ontario reported 2,923 new cases of COVID-19 today (Wednesday), another one-day record. Southwestern Public Health meantime is reporting 29 new cases this morning with 40 cases resolved. There are nine new cases in St. Thomas, two in Aylmer and one each in Bayham and West Elgin. There have been 12 COVID-19 related deaths since the pandemic began.
There are 263 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 61 in Tillsonburg, 50 in Aylmer, 49 in St. Thomas, 27 in Woodstock, 24 in East Zorra-Tavistock, 10 in Norwich, 9 in Bayham, six in Central Elgin and Ingersoll, five in Southwold, Blandford-Blenheim and Zorra, four in SW Oxford and two in West Elgin.
