COVID-19 vaccine SW Florida: More than 85,000 people now eligible


Nearly 263,000 people in Collier and Lee counties have received at least one vaccine dose. Statewide, more than 4.2 million people have been vaccinated.  
Through March 13, about 221,000 people age 65 and older in Collier and Lee counties have received at least one vaccine dose. Across Florida, more than 2.9 million seniors have been vaccinated.
Based on Census population estimates for age 65 and older residents, about 69% of Collier seniors and 59% of Lee s have gotten at least one COVID-19 shot. Statewide, the senior vaccination rate was at 65% through March 13.  
These older Floridians will continue to be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine along with health care workers, law enforcement, firefighters and K-12 employees age 50 and older. Federal Emergency Management Agency sites in several cities also are providing shots to a wider array of recipients, while pharmacies are now vaccinating school personnel, regardless of age, under protocols advanced by Preside ....
