Nadleh Whut en First Nation reports two COVID-19 cases

Two members of the Nadleh Whut’en First Nation near Fraser Lake have tested positive for COVID-19. Chief Larry Nooski shared the news in a memo on Thursday, saying additional testing is underway in the community. A number of facilities, including the gas station, will be closed for sanitization. The Nadleh Whut’en Emergency Operations Centre are working with Northern Health and the First Nations Health Authority. Meanwhile, Fraser Lake Elementary School has reported a COVID-19 exposure. School District 91 says the event occured on January 25. A pair of Coastal Gaslink sites in the area were previously dealing with an outbreak that was eventually declared over on January 22.

COVID-19 outbreak declared over at Coastal Gas Link work sites SHARE ON: (Photo supplied by MyPGNow.com staff) Northern Health has declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak at two workforce accommodation sites on the Coastal Gas Link (CGL) project. There have been no new cases reported in association with the outbreak that was first declared on December 19th. In total, 56 laboratory-confirmed cases were associated with the outbreak at 7 Mile Lodge and Little Rock Lake Lodge. All of the cases have since recovered and have completed their required self-isolation. This will be the final update regarding this outbreak.
