July 01, 2021 BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry in the Cordillera Administrative Region (DTI-CAR) has released PHP184.6 million under its Covid-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) Assistance to Restart Enterprises (CARES) program to help 15,567 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.
Myrna Pablo, regional director of DTI-CAR, on Tuesday said all provinces in the region have availed of the assistance. Around PHP70 million was released under the CARES program to beneficiaries in Benguet province thru the agency’s soft loan program released thru the Small Business Corporation (SBC). The loan has zero interest and payable in three years.
“The country is still in a pandemic and the market remains unstable that is why DTI has extended the repayment policy to three years from only one year at the start of the program in 2020,” she said.

+ May 26, 2021 FIVE coffee farmers from the Balutakay Coffee Farmers Cooperative (Bacofa) in Balutakay, Bansalan, Davao del Sur were among the winners in the Arabica Category of the Philippine Coffee Quality Competition (PCQC).
During the virtual awarding on May 26, 2021, Marites Arellano s natural processed coffee beans, which are of the catimor varietal, scored an average score of 85.86, placing first in the Arabica category. The coffee has notes of peach, guava, chocolate, apricot, and almond.
BAGUIO CITY, April 14 (PIA) - - Representatives from concerned private sector, government, and civil society in the Cordillera region converged through an online two-day regional competitive consultation for the crafting of a regional competitive roadmap for the next five years.
The consultation was aimed at engaging the private sector, government, and civil society in a dialogue towards achieving regional competitiveness anchored on the pillars on economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, resiliency, and innovation.
The five pillars which now include innovation are the measures considered in the yearly ranking of cities and municipalities competitive index (CMCI) such that competitiveness is focused on the idea of productivity.
