Mumbai s iconic double-decker buses will soon go out of action as they are being auctioned.
The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) is all set to auction old double-decker buses that have been in service for over 15 years. The officials said the auction is being conducted as they have reached their maximum service tenure. There are chances that new double-decker bus models will arrive by the end of 2021.
Out of a total of 120 double-decker buses, 60 have been put up for the auction process. The remaining 60 will be operational till the end of the year. The BEST officials said the department will try to introduce new double-decker buses by the end of the year.
