Power cuts disrupt water supply to over 5 lakh coal town residents DVC engineer claims no solution to problem in Dhanbad and neighbourhood in near future
Irregular power supply has affected the water supply from the Jamadoba based plant of Jharkhand Mineral Area Development Authority and Bhelatand based water treatment plant of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation.
Water supply remained suspended for three days in different localities of Jharia including Sabzi Mandi, Hetli Bandh, Poddar Para, Koiri Bandh, Fatehpur lane, Jharia Main road, Ghanudih, affecting more than five lakh residents.
In Dhanbad’s Putki area, water supply from the treatment plant of JMADA at Jamadoba was affected in the first week of April.

Many migratory birds are staying back at different sites of Dhanbad like the scenic Maithon and Panchet Lake due to the chilly weather conditions prevailing in the coal town, after a brief spell of warm weather from January 1 to 12. The weather condition is developing a favourable atmosphere for the birds to stay back.
A group of bird lovers in Dhanbad, led by a retired banker A K Sahay (62) who are carrying out extensive survey of bird spots in Dhanbad since September last year, have spotted Red Crested Pochard and Ruddy Shellduck during a visit to the Maithon Lake on Saturday.
