Gaston grand jury indicts girl and two men in double homicide case

A Gaston County grand jury returned first-degree murder indictments this week against three people, including a 16-year-old girl, in a double homicide case that left men from Bessemer City and Kings Mountain dead. The grand jury also returned two true bills of indictment for first-degree murder against a 16-year-old girl, also from Taylorsville, in this case. Prosecutors have yet to move to ask a judge to allow them to charge the girl as an adult, a decision which could come in the next two weeks, according to court officials. While she remains a juvenile under North Carolina law, police and court officials cannot identify her.

Gaston County Police name suspect in double homicide

The Gaston Gazette Gaston County Police have named a suspect in a double homicide that took place Monday night in the Crowders Mountain area. Police say they charged Jordan Cameron Moses, 29, of 1411 Gaston Way, Dallas, with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted first-degree murder, and one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon on Thursday. Moses is considered armed and dangerous. The public is cautioned not to interact with Moses. Instead they are encouraged to contact 911, Gaston County Police stated in a press release. Gaston County Police were called to 2410 Woodleaf Drive west of Gastonia around 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22.

A three-day search for a man wanted for a double homicide in western Gaston County ended early Monday morning more than 60 miles away in a hotel in the foothills of western North Carolina. Police from two counties and four agencies captured 19-year-old Michael Shane Barnes of Taylorsville as he left a Quality Inn off U.S. 421 in Wilkesboro just after midnight. Barnes was booked into Gaston County Jail at 7:48 a.m. Monday without bond on two counts of first-degree murder in the Feb. 18 shooting deaths of Robert Lucas Luke Gibby, 22, of Bessemer City, and Adam Kale Wood, 19, of Kings Mountain.

Gaston County Police have now charged two more people with murder in a shooting last week that left two men dead and a third injured. Police charged Kaleb Isiah Carver, 21, of Taylorsville, with two counts of first-degree murder in the Feb. 18 shooting deaths of Robert Lucas Luke Gibby, 22, of Bessemer City, and Adam Kale Wood, 19, of Kings Mountain. Police filed juvenile petitions against a third person on two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. Carver was booked into Gaston County Jail without bond at 6:19 p.m. Monday. Earlier Monday, police arrested Michael Shane Barnes, a 19-year-old suspect from Taylorsville, on identical charges.
