Fluence Technologies raises $12.5 million CAD, swaps CEOs to fuel next phase of growth
Toronto FinTech software startup Fluence Technologies has closed a $12.5 million CAD ($10 million USD) Series A round from Banneker Partners, as it looks to bring its financial close and consolidation software to more mid-sized companies, and expand its presence in Europe.
The startup has also appointed performance management software veteran Michael Morrison as its new CEO. Morrison is replacing Fluence’s founding CEO John Power, who is transitioning to COO. In the new role, Power will focus on customer success and guide Fluence’s product vision.
“We help organizations close their books with confidence,” said Michael Morrison, Fluence’s new CEO.

Snow Patrol
Snow Patrol are a Northern Irish-Scottish rock band formed in 1993, consisting of Gary Lightbody (vocals, guitar), Nathan Connolly (guitar, backing vocals), Paul Wilson (bass guitar, backing vocals), Jonny Quinn (drums), and Johnny McDaid (piano, guitar, backing vocals). Initially an indie rock band, the band rose to prominence in the early-mid 2000s as part of the post-Britpop movement.
The band were founded at the University of Dundee in 1993 by Lightbody, Michael Morrison, and Mark McClelland as Shrug. After briefly using the name Polarbear and released the EP
THE community has pulled together to buy a new electric bike for a disabled girl who had hers stolen by a heartless thief. Chloe Roylance, 13, was left very upset and afraid to leave her home after her electric bike was stolen while she was in Heavenly Food and Doughnuts on Higher Market Street in Farnworth. She spotted the hooded thief getting on her bike, at around 3,20pm on Monday, April 12, and chased after him but he managed to escape. Chloe’s dad Mark appealed on social media for any information about the theft, which came to the attention of Paul Dempsey, who works at Decathlon in Bolton, and Michael Morrison, from Little Hulton.

April snow storm causes large tree in Marion Meadows to fall
When Tommie Blackledge Mudra woke up on Wednesday, snow on the ground wasn t her only surprise.
Blackledge Mudra, who lives in Marion Meadows, said she was checking out the snowfall in her backyard this morning when she received a text from her brother-in-law asking if she was going to break out the cross-country skis for today. Ironically, the last time the Marion Star spoke with her, it was also during a snowstorm and she had taken the opportunity to ski across the unplowed roads in her neighborhood.
But today, Blackledge Mudra is making calls for fallen tree removal. After last night s snow storm that coated Marion in a slushy mess, a big tree in her front yard was split down the middle with large branches falling into her yard, her neighbor s driveway and on top of two cars parked on the street.
