A DRIVER smashed his car into a wall and collided with a lamppost while on the run from pursuing police. Chevon Irving caused £1,000 worth of damage through his attempts to evade arrest following a high-speed chase through Culcheth. The 21-year-old father-of-one made off from patrolling officers after smoking cannabis in the village, travelling at more than double the speed limit in the process. He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to charges of dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and possession of cannabis. But he was spared jail in favour of allowing him to work with the probation service to ‘make something’ of his life.

A violent thug battered his pregnant girlfriend then tried to intimidate her into silence via series of phone calls - including two while a police officer was sat with his victim recording at the other end.
Ben Featherstone, 22, of Gaisgill Court, Widnes, launched the “sustained and repeated” attack after he returned home drunk in the early hours of January 16 and found messages on a phone belonging to his then-partner Chantelle Reynolds from her friends advising her to leave him.
