🠟 Kansas Track & Field Heads to Arkansas for John McDonnell Invitational – Kansas Jayhawks

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Kansas men’s and women’s track & field teams travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas to compete in the John McDonnell Invitational April 24-25, competing amongst some of the top talent in the country. The John McDonnell Invitational begins on Saturday, April 24 at 10:15 a.m. CT, with the start of field events, followed by track events beginning at 5 p.m. Sunday’s competition continues at 10 a.m. The meet serves as the eighth of the outdoor season for the Jayhawks, before they return home to host the Rock Chalk Classic at Rock Chalk Park from April 30 – May 1. The Rock Chalk Classic will serve as Kansas’ sole home meet of the season as well as senior day.

🠟 Bradford Named Big 12 Athlete of the Week for Second Straight Week – Kansas Jayhawks

LAWRENCE, Kan. – University of Kansas sophomore Zach Bradford was named the Big 12 track & field Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week, the conference announced on Wednesday, after winning the pole vault at the Michael Johnson Invitational with a clearance of 5.71m (18-8.75 ft.). The Big 12 Athlete of the Week honor marks Bradford’s second of his career, including the second this season, after earning the honor on April 14 after vaulting the KU indoor school record. Bradford opened his day at 5.51m (18-1 ft.), where he began with a clearance on his first attempt. Bradford would then miss on his first attempt at 5.61m (18-4.75 ft.), before clearing 5.71m (18-8.75) on his next attempt.

The Trojans added or improved two national top-15 marks to their ledger at the Long Beach Invitational – none bigger than McKay Johnson’s 19.95m (65-5½) heave in the shot put that ranks him fourth on the seasonal chart. Johnson owns one of seven national top-10 marks by USC.
