It was hard to believe it was actually happening. At ten o’clock on a summer’s eve, in a garage in the middle of nowhere, the cars began to arrive. One by one, the fastest street machines in America rolled out of the pitch-black Ohio night and through the double-high garage doors, as if drawn by the bright lights inside. The Eagles were gathering.
And, on the face of it, a Honda-powered, 1000-horse, fender-flared Ferrari seems like more of the same – a raft of intrigue in an ocean of hyperbole. This one’s wild, for sure. But it’s also deeply considered, designed for racetrack glory, and interesting as hell.
The canary-yellow 308 is being screwed together by Mike Burroughs. BMW nerds will likely recognize the name. Burroughs was a lightning rod within the bimmerforums online community in the mid-2000s, slamming one vintage BMW or another on airbags and a set of gleaming deep-dish wheels. His builds garnered venom or praise, depending on who weighed in, but his efforts spring boarded the term “stance” into our lexicon, while reviving lowriding culture for a new generation of enthusiasts (check his site, stanceworks.com, for more).

Creative, out of the box thinking is the best kind of thinking. Especially when things tend to get a bit dull in the automotive scene, with the same builds over and over again. But few people dare venture into an unknown realm because that means you ll be spending more, and you ll be making your life more difficult. But then again, Rome wasn t built in a day, and if you really want to achieve something incredible, the extra effort will be worth it. 7 photos
Even though car shows have had it rough for the past several months for the reason we all know about, time hasn t stopped in its tracks for tuners as they have pushed on with their plans. And we ve gotten used to seeing some very wild projects being built in Japan. Also, for some reason, it looks like 2021 might just be a year filled with unexpected Ferrari projects.
Over the past years, people have started getting used to crazy engine swaps. But the level of craziness that defines an engine swap can be determined by looking at both the origin of the engine that's about to get swapped in, and the car that's about to receive said engine. And some times, the resulting mix can become either highly exciting, or it can turn to downright blasphemy.
