BUFFALO, N.Y. We re celebrating Western New York with some high honors for some members of the 2 On Your Side family.
The Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame announced its latest class on Tuesday, which includes retired Channel 2 reporter Mike Igoe and our current chief photojournalist Andy DeSantis. Chief as we know him around here apparently found out last year, but because of the pandemic, he s had to keep the secret ever since. I had to forget about it because it was top secret as I was told, and I couldn t even tell my kids. I told my wife though, and she kept the secret for a long time too, DeSantis said.

The Buffalo Broadcasters Association has announced it will induct the largest class ever into its Hall of Fame this year.
The 2021 class includes familiar names and faces, including WKBW s Eileen Buckley, WIVB’s Al Vaughters and WGRZ’s Mike Igoe, as well as behind-the-scenes journalists Mickey Osterreicher of WKBW and Andy DeSantis of WGRZ.
Buckley, who is being inducted in the Hall of Fame Radio category, and spent much of her career at WBFO, reflects on what the award means to her. I ve always felt like I was at the bottom of the media pile climbing my way up through the years, watching all these great veterans and getting this honor. Retail Industry Awards selects judges for 2021 Print

The expert judges have been selected for the Retail Industry Awards’ prestigious Independent Retailer of the Year prize.
Independent Retailer of the Year is split into four categories – one for stores up to 1,200sq ft, one for stores between 1,200sq ft and 3,000sq ft, one for stores between 3,000sq ft and 6,000sq ft, and one for stores over 6,000sq ft.
The judges will be led by independent consultant John Heagney again and will do virtual store visits and videos of shortlisted stores.
His team this year will comprise Nigel Gray, formerly of Nisa, convenience expert Mike Igoe, and Guy Ousey from the IGD industry think-tank.
