Mistakes made by Chandra Babu Naidu when he was Chief Minister has caused severe damage to the prestigious Polavaram Project of Andhra Pradesh. His decisions and the implementation of the unplanned mechanism and adopting non-engineering methods became a curse for the project. The loss caused due to his mistake cannot be described in words and also his failures made a loss of very valuable time and money. At first, Spillway construction was to be taken in project, instead, Cofferdam was constructed. This was done by putting aside the major construction works on the project. A major portion of Cofferdam and roads were completely damaged due to heavy floods in the Godavari last year and had to be rebuilt. CM YS Jagan Urges Officials To Finish Irrigation Projects As Per Timeline Jan 30, 2021, 10:10 IST
Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said irrigation projects listed as priority in phase 1 should be completed on predefined timelines and directed the officials to prepare an action plan for phase 2 priority projects focusing on north Andhra projects.
During a review meeting held on irrigation projects at the Camp office here on Friday, the Chief Minister said phase-1 priority projects including Polavaram Nellore Barrage, Sangam Barrage, Veligonda, Vansadhara, Owk Tunnel and others should be completed on time. He directed the officials to prepare an action plan for phase 2 priority projects including the projects related to Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Vishakapatnam districts.
