West Plains High School students selected for finals of Missouri High School Cybersecurity ChallengeOzark Radio News

COLUMBIA, Mo. Ten teams from Missouri high schools from St. Louis to West Plains have been selected to compete in the final round of the second annual Missouri High School Cybersecurity Challenge, which is being held virtually this year. The winning team will be selected on Feb. 25. The challenge is hosted by the University of Missouri System’s Missouri Research and Education Network (MOREnet) and the Missouri Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in partnership with CYBER.org, a workforce development program supported by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The 10 finalists were selected from a total of 31 teams from 15 districts that entered the competition.

This series will be held on February 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. and February 26 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Nonprofit Workshop Series: February 12, 2021, 1-4 p.m. Fundraising: The Art and Science of Asking for Money In this session, you will learn the fundamentals of a good development program and how to help an organization of any size reach its fundraising potential. You will explore the different types of funders and demystify “making the ask.” You will come out of this class armed with knowledge of how to grow your fundraising program and the confidence to request funds to fulfill your organization’s mission.

Canyon ISD hosts first board meeting of 2021

During the first regular meeting of the Canyon Independent School District Board of Education for 2021, district officials looked back at some academic data, looking at how the district can be better in the future.  Cameron Rosser, the district’s assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction, presented the board with the Texas Academic Performance Report, which consists of three sections: data from the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, exam, 2018-19 post secondary readiness data, as well as demographic data.  Rosser focused mainly on the post secondary readiness data, stating the district’s attendance rate was at 95.7% for the 2018-19 school year. The district’s four-year graduation rate grew to 97.7% from 95.7% in the 2017-18 school year, and 71.5% of students were deemed college, career or military ready.
