At the same time, Borders General has the worst waiting time figures in Scotland, with less than 75 per cent of A&E patients being seen in 4 hours or less. In the last year, the Borders has consistently been below the Scottish average and has never reached the Scottish Government’s target figure of 95 per cent.

Boss of The Kiosk in Ulverston hits out after food kiosk targeted in burglary

A WELL-KNOWN community trader has hit out after his food and drink kiosk was targeted in a suspected burglary. Peter Ridge said he was left wondering why he had been the victim of the vandalism after the windows of The Kiosk in Ulverston were smashed in a late-night incident. The 62-year-old said the costs of repairing the damage could be ‘disastrous’ for his business, which has remained open during the current lockdown. Mr Ridge, who has run the popular spot on Victoria Road for nearly 18 years, said he was alerted to the damage after a phone call from his daughter.
