Police: Possible gas leak in Portage, shelter in place canceled

PORTAGE, Wis. A shelter in place order was canceled Wednesday night in Portage after a possible gas leak.
According to the city’s police department, the leak was believed to be at the CP Rail Yard in the 400 block of West Oneida Street.
According to a Facebook post from the Portage Fire Department, the width of DeWitt and Armstrong streets and the length of West Oneida and West Marion Streets were asked to shelter in place while crews investigated the leak.
After fire crews made entry to the area with protective equipment and metering devices to detect the leak, authorities gave the all clear. The shelter-in-place order was canceled around 10 p.m.
