He had to turn to over-the-top content platforms to satisfy his yearning for alternative titles made by filmmakers who seek to inspire change through their masterpieces.
“It was really hard for me to accept that I could no longer watch films inside microcinemas due to the pandemic,” he said in a Facebook Messenger chat. “The experience cannot be compared to online film viewing experience.”
The global film industry has suffered during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cinemas and movie theaters were shuttered, festivals were canceled and a number of film releases got delayed after film productions were halted.

THE FILM Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) announced that it has given P12.1 million worth of grants to 22 films as part of its CreatePHFilms Philippines Cinema funding program that provides funds for development, production, post-production, and distribution.
Of the 22 grantees chosen for the first cycle of the funding program, eight were for scriptwriting, four for script development, three for small budget production, two for large budget production, and five for post production.

The pandemic was the second time art rescued me.
The first was 2½ years ago when I had to move for the first time in 25 years. My husband had died unexpectedly. I chose the first place I saw, a nearby two-bedroom apartment so my hurting heart could still be close to our home.
I couldn’t face unpacking. So I didn’t. Rifled-through boxes were scattered around the house, clothes half in, half out. Pans were strewn on the floor, displaced. The place looked like a college dorm room.
