Voters go to polls in House and district attorney elections February 9, 2021 GMT ATLANTA (AP) Voters Tuesday are deciding a vacant Georgia House seat and a vacant district attorney’s post. Six candidates are running a special Democratic primary in House District 90, which includes parts of DeKalb, Henry and Rockdale counties. Candidates include Diandra Hines, a former legislative aide; Angela Moore, who made an unsuccessful bid for Secretary of State in 2010; Greg Shealey, who lost Democratic primaries for the House seat in 2018 and 2020; Joel Thibodeaux, who lost a state Senate bid in 2018; former state Rep. Stan Watson and former DeKalb County Commission candidate Ed Williams. ....

The special election on Feb. 9 is for the remaining two years of the four-year-term for D.A. Broder, a Republican, has a Democrat opponent, Rev. District Attorney Marie Greene Broder has announced her candidacy for election as District Attorney of the Griffin Judicial Circuit in a special election on Feb. 9. The Georgia Supreme Court recently ruled that the term of District Attorney could not be extended by the Governor for two years as was initially thought, so the Governor has called this special election, said Broder. “I am honored to have this job, and I am running to remain District Attorney in this special election,” Broder said. Broder was appointed in March to fill the vacancy left when former District Attorney Ben Coker was sworn in as Superior Court Judge. ....
