(M&C): Sebastian, you are giving a keynote speech at SAP’s PLM Info Days, which are being held digitally on May 18 and 19, 2021. How did this speech about Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) come about?

Jointly with Statista data analysts, the German business monthly Capital, has identified the country’s most innovative companies. Statista experts and representatives of previous award-winning enterprises vetted potential innovation award winners in 20 industries. The jury investigated candidates in sectors ranging from automobiles and retail to mechanical engineering. In the latter category the circular knitting machine manufacturer Mayer & Cie. won a place on the rostrum.

Market recovery after two difficult years, sees Mayer & Cie. positive in its outlook for the 2021 financial year.

Albstadt-based circular knitting machine manufacturer Mayer & Cie. (MCT), generated group sales of around EUR 72 million in 2020, a 20% decline on the previous year, making it the second year in succession in which the long-established Albstadt-Tailfingen company reported a negative result.
Looking ahead, in contrast, the outlook is much more promising, the company says. Since late summer 2020 and the end of the first wave of coronavirus infections, the company has benefited from a marked recovery in all of its markets. Thanks to this positive trend Mayer & Cie. anticipates a successful 2021 financial year. In the future management will be counting on increased flexibility to offset demand fluctuations better.
