In Your View: Great coverage of Day of Prayer

After submitting a letter to you a couple of weeks ago complaining about the poor coverage of the event the Boyd County Republican Women hosted for Congressman Hal Rogers a few weeks ago, I have to say that I was extremely pleased about the front-page blowout you provided covering our National Day of Prayer event in Central Park. Austin Johnson, the reporter who covered the NDOP, was extremely personable, and I think he and the photographer did a bang-up job. Thank you, Daily Independent, for that story! I wanted to add that Pastor Jim Pridemore of Temple Baptist Church in Flatwoods was also one of our featured speakers and did a wonderful job.

Protesters Return to Morehead City Council

   Scott was the last to speak before Mayor Laura White-Brown called for the end of public comment.  This resulted in some outrage by supporters with the group who continued to speak when she attempted to move forward with the meeting.   Kentucky House Representative Attica Scott at Morehead City Council Credit Tanner Boyd    White-Brown informed the group they would be asked to leave if the disruptions continued, eventually asking Police Chief Derrick Blevins to escort the individuals out, but they ended up leaving on their own accord. The Mayor did grant an additional five minutes of time to the group after council returned from recess, but chants from the group outside could be heard throughout the remainder of the meeting.
