Novak joins Waller after similar roles with two of the world s largest law firms and as Director of Legal Operations and Technology at a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company. Steven Novak Steve is an innovator when it comes to legal technology, said Waller chair Matt Burnstein. Courtesy of Waller Nashville-based Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis has added legal technology veteran Steve Novak who has worked for some of nation’s most influential law firms as its chief information officer. Novak replaces Doug Leins, who retired at the end of 2020. A release notes Leins focused largely on internal IT (resource management, network security, etc.). Novak will assume those responsibilities but also will be heavily focused on how the firm services clients via technology. Novak joins Waller from Indianapolis-based Bingham Greenebaum Doll, which is now part of Dentons. Previously, he was director of legal technology operations for pharmaceutical giant AbbVie, where he built a technology and operations organization to support legal services in more than 170 countries.

Vaco subsidiary MorganFranklin Consulting has added Ferdinand Hamada as managing director to its cybersecurity practice. The addition follows Brentwood-based Vaco s acquisition of MorganFranklin in 2019. Based in Washington D.C., Morgan Franklin focuses on finance and technology management and advisory services. Hamada (pictured) brings more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity and technology transformation within the life sciences space, according to a release. Previously, he served as vice president of IT and chief information security officer at Catalent Pharma Solutions. Hamada also worked for more than 10 years at KPMG Consulting, focusing on IT advisory for pharmaceutical clients. He began his career in various IT positions at Cardinal Health and Merck.
