Vermont Business Magazine The Champlain Valley School District announced Saturday that they have hired an educator from South Bend, Indiana, as their next superintendent. Rene Sanchez will take over from the retiring Elaine Pinckney. Pinckney has led what is now the state s largest school district for 15 years.
CVSD Board Message:
Hello, and happy weekend to you.
You may have heard the rumbles of excitement as the news of our superintendent hire is coming out. Of course, we wanted to reach out to you directly with a more official announcement.
As you know, the CVSD Board of Directors engaged in a robust search for our district’s first new superintendent in 15 years. We approached this critical task with the entire CVSD community in mind, recognizing that our choice would impact various groups differently. We honor the fact that a new leader reaches you – the dedicated and talented team of employees in CVSD – in a most immediate way.

New Fiction Thrillers and suspense novels are a great way to liven up a long winter. Here are some of our newest: “White Ivy” by Susie Yang. Ivy Lin grows up learning to lie and steal from her grandmother, allowing her to accumulate the trappings of a suburban teen and, more importantly, attracting the attention of Gideon Speyer, the golden boy of a wealthy political family. Ivy’s mother discovers what her daughter has been up to, however, and Ivy is swiftly sent to China. Years later Ivy returns to Boston and is reunited with Gideon. What starts as a young woman’s crush on a privileged former classmate, becomes a story of love, lies, and dark obsession. This thriller offers stark insights into the immigrant experience, as it hurtles to its electrifying ending.
