Fundraiser to help Howland High School student fighting COVID-19 | News, Sports, Jobs

May 7, 2021 BENEFIT: The “No Tiger Fights Alone” fundraiser to help Howland High School student Sandra Rose will be held 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Howland Tiger Stadium. Sandra has been battling COVID-19, diabetes and other health issues at the Cleveland Clinic. The fundraiser will include a drive-thru dinner, 50-50 raffle, cornhole, basket raffle and bake sale. Sandra is a junior at the school and a cheerleader. She was moved to a children’s rehabilitation facility earlier this week. CEMETERY CLEANUP: The Vienna Historical Society will host a cleanup at noon Saturday at Doud Cemetery, located next to state Route 11 off King Graves Road. Those who can help are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Apr 23, 2021 GREAT AMERICAN CLEANUP: The Geauga-Trumbull Solid Waste Management District kicked off its litter cleanup campaign this month. The summerlong program called the Great American Cleanup is part of a national campaign through Keep America Beautiful. Local volunteers receive trash bags, litter grabbers, safety vests and gloves. All cleanup volunteers will receive Earth Day T-shirts, while supplies last. Service groups, neighborhood clubs, schools, scouts and communities seek out littered areas and then register their cleanup date to receive supplies. The seeing eye Apr 16, 2021 OSU EXTENSION KICKS OFF PROGRAM: The Ohio Department of Agriculture and OSU Extension Offices are kicking off the second year of the Victory Gardens program. Due to high demand, the program is expanding from 10 to 25 counties across the state, with 8,300 seed packets available free to the public. Ohio Victory Gardens are meant to be enjoyed by everyone, from urban apartment dwellers to those living in the country, and everyone in between. Seeds are available for pick up at the OSU Extension Trumbull County office, 520 W. Main St, Cortland, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. Seeds also can be picked up during a drive-thru event 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Call 330-638-6783 for information. Planting resources and other information about gardening can be found at the Ohio Victory Gardens website.

WARREN It was a special Easter service as members of the Elim Christian Center gathered Sunday to remember their pastor, Apostle Loretta Pernice, and to honor her with a special memorial wall inside the church. Following tributes from members of the congregation, a picture of Pernice, the pastor’s robe she wore when she was ordained as a minister, a nameplate and the center’s mission / vision statement were placed on a wall outside the sanctuary.
